Homemade Baby Food

So when deciding to become a stay at home dad I also decided I would put that culinary degree to use and make my own baby food for my son... So I started looking for containers to store the small portions of food in. To save everyone a little time its cheaper to buy the Gerber baby food in those little (re-usable) plastic containers than it is to buy little plastic containers without food.
Anyhow getting on to making homemade baby food, I found this very easy to do. My first batch of food I made by putting in some spinach and a little bit of homemade chicken stock into my magic bullet and gave it a whirl for about 10 seconds until it was smooth and bright green. You can use a food processor as well, but in this instance I wasn't making enough to justify breaking out the 12 cup monster. Anyhow I did have to add a little more stock to get to the consistency I wanted but after all was done I sampled it, after all if you expect your baby to eat it you should too, and it was very good a little on the unsalty side for my liking but then my 8 month old isn't used to salt.
So making the food was very quick and easy and I froze the additional portions for future use. This is an extremely inexpensive and healthy way to give your baby food and variety to help them be ready for more foods, as I am never satisfied with the limited vegetable selection for babies at the store.

I don't know a whole lot about cooking, but I thought this article from Yahoo!Food was extremely helpful:

Even the cooking-challenged like myself can add pureed carrots to spaghetti sauce. It's a great tip that I use all the time to make a simple meal healthier.
